"Latest Announcements for our younger members"

Stephen Manning who represented St. Michaels Credit Union in the 2007 Cork Chapter Junior Talent Competition held at the Rochestown Park Hotel recently.  Stephen sang two of his own compositions The Cowboy Song and A Winters Day.  Stephen won the Award of Merit at the competition

Stephen is a fifth class pupil at Gaelscoil Mhachan in Mahon.

He is currently rehearsing for Jack and the Beanstalk which will be showing at the Everyman, in December 2007.

Poster Competition 2008

The Credit Union Poster Competition is one of the most successful annual promotions undertaken by the credit union movement and the 2008 competition aims to continue this winning formula.

Each year, young artists up to 18 years of age and over are invited to submit entries to the Credit Union National Poster Competition.

Now in it’s 25th year (2008), the competition attracts up to 50,000 entries through 300 credit unions nationwide.

The competition has two categories - General and Special with the following age groups in each category.

  • 7 years and under
  • 8 - 10 years inclusive
  • 11 - 13 years inclusive
  • 14 - 17 years inclusive
  • 18 years and over

Entry requirements for 2008 will be:

  • Ages as at 31st December 2008.  Proof of DOB may be requested by the Credit Union.
  • All entries must be submitted on A3 or A2 size paper
  • Entries must be Portrait and not Landscape
  • Entrants may submit one entry only
  • Name, address, age, Date of Birth, and School must be clealy printed on the entry form and attached to the back of the poster.
  • Any entries bearing incomplete entry forms will not be considered
  • All entries should bear the text and illustrate the theme of the year
  • Entries must be submitted to St. Michaels Credit Union on or before the publicised closing date

Materials

The poster may be drawn or painted in:

  • Pencil, charcoal, pen or ink
  • Felt pens, markers, crayon, pastel, water colours
  • Acrylics, oils, poster colour or collage
  • No Computer Aided Design may be entered

Special Category-Group Entries

There is a separate section for Group Entries in the Special Category only.  Entries to the Special Category are invited from children and adults with special needs.  Entrants must clearly tick on the Entry Form if they wish to be considered for this category.  Entrants in this category are not required to use the Theme

A theme has not yet been selected for the 2008/09 poster competition.  Keep your eye on this page for further updates.
